Is South Hills football Coach Steve Bogan is coaching the school’s baseball team? Is he still coaching the football team? Is he really the new baseball coach?

It seems that Fred Robledo of the San Gabriel Valley Tribune accidentally started a ruckus on his blog this week with a seemingly innocent post asking whether Bogan was in the dugout this week. The comments have ranged from comical, to informative to down right nasty, with most of the negativity directed at South Hills Coach Kevin Smith and Robledo.

As far as we know, Bogan’s dugout appearance was a one-time deal. Smith was ejected for a second time this season earlier in the week and Bogan joined the assistant coaches in the dugout at Smith’s request. Bogan, who had prevously been an assistant coach for the school’s baseball team, is still the football coach.

South Hills (17-4, 8-1), which is in first place in the San Antonio League, plays second-place Nogales (14-11, 5-5) this week. They’ll play Tuesday at South Hills at 3:15 p.m. and then Thursday at the same time at Nogales.

Do you think Robledo was right in asking that question on his blog or did some of his readers overreact?
