Saugus cross country captures ESPN 710 team award

The Saugus girls’ cross-country team, which won its second consecutive state division title and finished second at the Nike Team Nationals last fall, was honored as the ESPN 710 Sports Awards High School Team of the Year on Thursday. Centurion runners Katie Dunn and Kaylin Mahoney, pictured with San Diego Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson, were on hand at the ESPN Zone in Anaheim to receive their award.

Mater Dei QB Matt Barkley was voted the Male Athlete of the Year and former Valencia softball pitcher Jordan Taylor, who was named the Big 10 Pitcher of the Week today, was voted the Female Athlete of the Year.
