A real nice story developing at Chino Hills Ayala. The Bulldogs went 0-10 last season under first-year Coach Tom Inglima, but won their season opener Friday night against Duarte, 35-7.

Duarte was coming off a 10-3 mark and returned 2,000-yard rusher Chris Harris, but he and the Falcons were no match against the rejuvinated Bulldogs, who won for the first time since their season finale in 2005.

Inglima said the staff was motivated in the off-season by an on-campus visit from Orange Lutheran Coach Jim Kunau, which took place shortly after the Lancers won the Division II state bowl game last December.

Talk about a classy move. How many other highly visible coaches would take three or four hours out of their day to speak to a staff that’s coming off an 0-10 season?
