I asked Crespi Coach Jeremiah Ross how he prepared the Celts for Corona Centennial‘s dizzying no-huddle offense, and he said they instituted their own no-huddle defense.

Centennial’s offense uses playsheets attached to the players’ forearms or belt buckles. They line up on the ball and a coach hollers out the play. The players then look it up on their sheets and run the play.

So Crespi defensive coaches got creative last weekend and made up their own play sheets.

‘It took a day to get used to it,’ Ross said. ‘But now, our defense will probably be ready before Centennial.’

Crespi has allowed only six points all season, while Centennial has scored 87. We’ll see who comes better prepared as the evening progresses. Stay tuned.
