When we first saw YouTube user JMUALLUM08‘s footage of Emma, a French bulldog puppy, engaged in what we can only describe as an epic battle with a spring door stop, we thought we had stumbled upon a truly one-of-a-kind video.

As it turns out, we were wrong.

Apparently, waging war against a door stop is just business as usual for French bulldogs -- or so a series of YouTube videos, each featuring a different dog and filmed by a different owner, would lead us to believe.

Why would French bulldogs in particular have such a beef with door stops? Your guess is as good as ours -- unless you have advanced knowledge about Frenchies and/or door stops, in which case, we suppose, your guess is better than ours. So, Frenchie experts, any guesses?

After the jump, check out five -- five! -- more bits of video evidence suggesting that French bulldogs bear a strange grudge against the humble spring door stop.

Bogie, a 9-week-old puppy, has already learned how much fun a French bulldog can have with a simple spring. According to owner clambakeyo, Bogie ‘loves taunting the door stop.’ His other hobbies include attacking shoes.

The spring door stop inspired an uncharacteristically passionate response in a 3-month-old Frenchie named King. ‘This is the first time we’ve heard him bark like this,’ King’s owner writes on YouTube. ‘We almost thought he didn’t know how!’ The more you know.

Another Frenchie, Preston, doesn’t share King’s hesitation about barking. It’s a sure bet that if he’s in the same room as a door stop, Preston will be barking at it!

Reaching adulthood hasn’t diminished brindle French bulldog Kermit’s door stop enthusiasm. ‘He already removed the plastic cap when he was just a puppy,’ owner artistikchick says, ‘but the remaining spring never fails to entertain him.’

Finally, loveable lug Rufus is so delighted by his attempts to play with the door stop that he has to roll around on his back to express his joy. We love a dog who’s not afraid to show his feelings!
