We’ve heard of cats eating unusual things, but corn?

Apparently so -- and this kitty isn’t the only one with a taste for summer’s most perfect food. A quick Web perusal was enough to come up with these cats, this cat, this cat and this scary-looking cat (we picture him crooning ‘My precious’ to the corn) all digging in.

So is all this corn-eating really OK for cats? According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the kernels are ‘generally considered to be edible’ for cats, but owners should be extremely careful that the little guys don’t get ahold of the silk part of the plant, which could cause intestinal blockage if swallowed.
