Your morning adorable: Dama gazelle fawn at the Budapest Zoo

The Budapest Zoo welcomed a dama gazelle fawn April 21. The baby’s mother refused to feed her, so keepers have been taking up the slack.

Dama gazelles, native to northern Africa, are both the world’s largest and rarest gazelle species. Adults can measure about 4 feet high at the shoulder and weigh up to 165 pounds.

They’re nearly extinct in the wild and are listed on the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources’ Red List for species considered critically endangered. One of the primary threats facing the dama gazelle is illegal hunting, which has continued despite the animal’s endangered status.
