We have to admit, holiday shopping (at least the portion that can’t be done online) can wear on our nerves. And while a dog’s companionship always improves our mood, how do we know which stores allow dogs and which will kick us out on our ear? The Times’ Susan Carpenter has the scoop.

So what’s the pet-friendliest shopping center in L.A.? Carpenter says:

Great Dane or poodle. Pure-bred or mutt. It doesn’t matter at the Grove, where any pup that is ‘well-behaved,’ ‘on a leash’ and ‘not wanting to bite people’ is invited, said spokeswoman Jennifer Gordon. And if that pup happens to drop a ‘present’ under the mall’s Christmas tree...Just clean it up, and all will be forgiven.

The Beverly Center allows dogs, with the caveats that they a) must be small, and b) must be carried by hand or in a carrier.

Dogs are also welcome at Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Barneys New York (but don’t even think of bringing one into your neighborhood Target).
