The female koala born at the San Diego Zoo in March has outgrown her mother’s pouch and is now eating eucalyptus on her own.

The 2-pound joey -- the name for a koala baby -- is still holding onto mom, Osana, in the exhibit’s perching trees. The babe is nameless but the zoo plans a public vote as part of Koalapalooza in January, a celebration of native Australian animals.

Osana, by the way, is an experienced mother. She’s had eight joeys. The zoo has the largest colony of koalas outside of the Land Down Under.
