Pumpkin, ID# A0976779

Chihuahua sisters Pumpkin (above, ID# A0976779) and Mandy (below, ID# A0978082) were rescued from a pet hoarder in August and found themselves in the care of the L.A. Department of Animal Services. They’re now in the market for new homes!

Pumpkin is about 3 years old and spayed. She ‘has made an amazing change since being brought into the shelter,’ says New Hope program coordinator Valerie Markloff. ‘When she and her friends first came into the shelter, she was completely frightened and didn’t want much to do with people. This was only until she learned that people weren’t that bad and gave trusting humans another try.’ We’re told that Pumpkin would make a great lap dog! Meet her at the West Valley shelter, 20655 Plummer St., Chatsworth.

Mandy, ID# A0978082

Mandy is about 2 years old and is also spayed. She’s shyer than her sister; Markloff says she’d do best with ‘someone that has time to spend with her and show her that people can be trusted.’ Meet her at the East Valley shelter, 14409 Vanowen St., Van Nuys.

More information on both dogs can be had by calling 888-4LAPET1 with their ID numbers.
