A high school agriculture teacher was killed by an aggressive bull Sunday morning at the high school farm in Tulare while herding milk cows. The Fresno Bee reports:

Max Corbett, 61, the dairy and farm manager of the Tulare Joint Union High School District farm, was attacked about 7:45 a.m. Sunday, according to district officials. His wife, Mary Corbett, witnessed the attack and called 911. ‘It’s a shocker for all of us,’ said Alfonso Gamino, assistant superintendent for human resources. ‘He was someone who touched many lives personally. We lost a loved one.’ Corbett had been employed for more than 30 years at the district, and for the past 25 years served as school farm’s manager. At least 200 students and former students gathered at the school farm on Sunday evening to grieve. Today, a school counselor is at the farm to talk with students. The school farm, which is on West Bardsley Avenue, is used by students from all three Tulare high schools to learn about farming. Corbett, a teacher at Tulare Union High School, was one of seven agriculture instructors in the district. According to the district, the evening before the fatal accident an employee of the farm who went to milk the cows was charged by the bull, but got away and suffered only minor scrapes. The employee then went to Corbett’s home ‘and told him the bull was aggressive,’ Gamino said. The bull has now been taken to a stockyard and will be sold for slaughter.
