Believe it or not, the Norwegian King’s Guard has a penguin for a mascot and honorary colonel-in-chief. Fittingly, it’s a king penguin. He resides at the Edinburgh Zoo and is named Nils Olav.

The bird was knighted Friday and is the third incarnation in a dynasty of penguin mascots with the same name (kind of like Norway’s Shamu). He goes by ‘Sir’ Nils Olav now.
