It’s the classic ‘What If?’ guessing game.

What if ‘The Godfather’ had fallen into the hands of Martin Scorsese? Or what if James Cameron had been at the helm of ‘Spider-Man’? It works with almost any movie, but if you want a laugh, just check out this wonderfully zany look at ‘Watchmen,’ if it had been directed by Woody Allen, Judd Apatow, Sofia Coppola, Quentin Tarantino or -- gasp -- Tyler Perry.

Slate’s Dan Kois and Ashley Quigg offer their hilariously goofball take on the strange cinematic possibilities. They include Woody’s adaptation -- where Dr. Manhattan is a wealthy Upper West Side dermatologist -- as well as Sofia Coppola’s version, which features an 11-minute sequence with Kirsten Dunst (as Silk Spectre) staring out a taxi window while Television’s ‘Marquee Moon’ plays in its entirety.
