Facebook says it has ‘smoking gun’ in Paul Ceglia dispute

Facebook said in a court filing that it has uncovered a ‘smoking gun’ of evidence disproving Paul Ceglia’s claim to part ownership in his lawsuit against the world’s most popular social network and its Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg.
And the evidence is in Ceglia’s computers and hard drives, the Palo Alto company said its filing in federal court in Buffalo, N.Y., according to a Bloomberg report.
Ceglia, of New York, has claimed that he had a 2003 contract with Zuckerberg, who co-founded Facebook, that entitles him to half of Zuckerberg’s stake in the company.
Facebook acknowledges that Ceglia hired Zuckerberg to work on a project for him in April 2003 while Zuckerberg was a freshman at Harvard. But Facebook says Zuckerberg never promised him the 50% share.
But while Facebook did say in its Thursday court filing that a court-ordered forensic examination of Ceglia’s computers by Facebook ‘have uncovered smoking-gun evidence that the purported contract at the heart of this case is a fabrication,’ the company also didn’t state specifically what the evidence it found was, the Bloomberg report said.
Officals at Facebook declined to comment on the court filing or the company’s findings and Ceglia’s lawyer, San Diego attorney Jeffrey Lake, was unavailable for comment on Friday morning.
