The fledgling social network Google+ is trying to figure out how to attract big names to sign on.

According to Google emails reviewed by CNN, the Mountain View, Calif., tech company is working up a “celebrity acquisition plan” to spread the word and acquire more users.

Part of that plan is developing a process for vetting the identity of celebrities who sign up and keeping impostors from taking on the identities of famous people, Hollywood consultant Brett Schulte told CNN.

Schulte, who said he spoke with Google employees about the issue, said the plan might also involve a button or other seal of approval from Google for profiles proved to belong to a well-known figure (possibly through a faxed copy of that person’s driver’s license).

Google declined to comment further. “We aren’t yet sharing any details on future plans around Google+,” a spokeswoman wrote to CNN. “We plan to add a lot of features and functionality to Google+ over time.”
