Pottermore.com -- which is nothing more than two teasing owls on a magenta background with the words ‘Coming Soon....’ -- was revealed Thursday after ‘Harry Potters’ fans were set off on a scavenger hunt when a message about a big announcement by Rowling was posted on the website secretstreetview.com.

‘This is not a new book, but it is something equally exciting,’ the message on the website says.

On Wednesday, various Harry Potter fansites began posting GPS coordinates that when entered on secretstreetview.com revealed the 10 letters of the pottermore.com website.

Pottermore.com’s Twitter account tweeted a link to a YouTube page that is counting down to the big announcement by Rowling, which by our calculation should be 4 a.m. Pacific time June 23. Pottermore was confirmed as Rowling’s latest project by a spokeswoman for the author Thursday.

‘The owls are gathering... Find out why soon,’ the YouTube page reads.

[For the record, 3:16 p.m., June 16: A previous version of this post said J.K. Rowling’s big announcement would be at 8 p.m. June 22.]
