Conan O’Brien is entering a new post-’Tonight Show’ era with his return to late night.

For the occasion, the bearded, rebranded television show host and Twitter celebrity asked artist Yiying Lu to create his very own version of Twitter’s ‘fail whale’ called the ‘Pale Whale.’

Lu has other news: She has co-founded a start-up that will launch in San Francisco next month.

Let’s hope O’Brien’s new show on TBS avoids the outages the ‘fail whale’ made famous on Twitter.

In the meantime, Twitter co-founders Evan Williams and Biz Stone are going to make an appearance Wednesday on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night show. Fallon, a technophile, is also into Twitter.

It remains to be seen if these tweeting hosts of late-night shows can help bring the popular Internet service more into the mainstream.
