Apple iPad on sale at TJ Maxx, and reportedly Marshalls, for $400

The iPad has landed at TJ Maxx for about $400, and according to various tech and Apple blogs, Marshalls is selling it for the same price.

The two bargain retailers, both owned by The TJX Companies, are reportedly selling the entry level iPad, which is Wi-Fi only and has 16 gigabytes of memory.

Apple’s base iPad normally sells for $499.

TJ Maxx confirmed it was selling the iPad in limited quantities and at select locations through a message on Twitter.

Marshalls has yet to send such a tweet and was unavailable for comment.

MacRumors, an Apple rumors blog, received photos from a reader who claimed to have bought an iPad at Marshalls for $399.99.

It’s unclear as to whether the iPad the two department store chains are selling are new or refurbished models.
