Do you know what everyone around you has in common? ‘Battlestar Galactica’ fans know: They might be a Cylon (that’s an artificial being, for the uninitiated). So, you need to be able to detect where and who they are. Enter the iPhone. A new app hit the market to help you detect those impostors.

And you know how you people-watch and make up stories? Well, this takes that a step further. Check your mom. Best friend. Dog. Cat. Boss (who you already know is a Cylon).

What it is: A Cylon detector

What sizzles: Well, ‘Battlestar Galactica’ sizzles. The show is in its last season, on its last few episodes, and is still great. The app? The cool photos from the show that they superimpose a picture on are fun. I wonder how many there are.

What fizzles: Sadly, you know it’s not doing anything but flashing graphs and making sounds. I took a picture of someone’s leg, and it threw the photo on an image of Lt. Starbuck‘s face.

Bottom line: Fun to be had, though it may get old pretty fast. What I found out, though? Everyone would rather be a Cylon. What does that say about us? Hmmm ...
