Hey there, Sad Sally! Unhappy because you wish you had more friends? Well, turn that frown upside down!

According to a study recently published in the British Medical Journal, those who smile more in Facebook photos have more friends on average.

Researchers also found that those grinning guys and girls were often placed toward the center of their network of friends, while those who smile less frequently fall in the periphery of their networks.

The study sampled a group of 1,700 college students on the social network.
