Well, the 2012 Oscars are a couple of weeks away, and ‘Moneyball’, starring Brad Pitt, is one of nine nominees for best picture.

A couple of weeks ago, we started another Times Sports poll, this one to pick the best sports movies of all time. Response has been so overwhelming, we are extending the voting to this week as well.

This will be run similar to our greatest sports figures in L.A. history and out greatest sports moment in L.A. history polls.

Decide on your choice as the 10 best sports movies of all time. Rank them in order, from 1 to 10, and let us know in one of two ways: You can leave them in the comment section or email your choices to me at houston.mitchell@latimes.com. If you vote for a movie that has been made more than once, such as ‘The Bad News Bears’, please make sure you specify which version you are voting for.

Balloting will stay open until Sunday night at 10 p.m. After that I will count the ballots, giving 12 points to the movie you put first on your list, 10 for second place, eight for third, seven for fourth, on down to one point for 10th place. Any movies that feature sports are eligible. If you need to refresh your memory, you can find a list of dramatic sports movies here, and comedy sports movies here. Those lists are not all-inclusive, however, and are there mainly to jog your memory.

On Monday, we will unveil the top 10, one a day. It’s just the thing to whet your appetite for the Oscars.

So what are you waiting for? Vote now!
