Josh Shaw, a defensive back who played last season at Florida, is transferring to USC and will enroll in school this week, according to several reports.

Shaw, a former standout at Palmdale High, made 22 tackles in 10 games last season as a redshirt freshman.

Shaw, 6 feet 3 and 197 pounds, told uscfootball.com in this report that he missed a game last season so he could come home to attend to a family situation. He was granted his release from Florida in late November.

Shaw will apply to the NCAA for a hardship waiver. If granted, he would be eligible to play this season.

‘They told me they have an immediate need in the secondary, and if I get a hardship, it would give them immediate help at either corner or safety,’ Shaw told uscfootball.com. ‘I’m just coming in to work hard and to be a good teammate.’
