Should Tim Tebow be the Broncos’ starting QB in 2012?

Tim Tebow’s season ended with the Denver Broncos’ 45-10 loss to the New England Patriots in Saturday’s divisional round of the NFL playoffs. But that doesn’t mean the wildly popular, yet extremely inconsistent quarterback is suddenly yesterday’s news.
Tebow is sure to be the topic of much conversation throughout the off-season, particularly within the Broncos organization as vice president of football operations John Elway and Coach John Fox need to decide what to direction to take with the quarterback position.
The notion that Tebow isn’t necessarily the automatic starter in Denver is sure to rankle the quarterback’s devoted fan base, which will be quick to point out that he was 7-4 during the regular season and led the Broncos to their first playoff appearance and postseason victory since the 2005-06 season.
But his detractors will be just as quick to point out that a lot of those victories came despite poor performances by Tebow, who averaged fewer passing yards a game (124) than any starting quarterback during the regular season and had to rely on his legs and seemingly miraculous comebacks to pull out victories week after week.
The magic appeared to end with three straight losses to finish the regular season, but Tebow was spectacular in a wild-card victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. All of which sets up the Broncos’ dilemma. Some say they should stick with the guy who got them so far this season and hope the inconsistencies go away; others feel they have seen enough and it’s time to get someone more reliable in there.
One possible solution would be to bring in another potential No. 1 quarterback and have him battle Tebow for the starting position. Of course, that already happened this season with previous starter Kyle Orton and we all remember how well that went over with Denver fans.
