Tim Tebow and Bill Maher ... it feels strange even mentioning the two names in the same sentence.

Here’s one example of why. This is what Tebow tweeted after throwing four interceptions during the Denver Broncos’ 40-14 loss to the Buffalo Bills on Christmas Eve:

‘Tough game today but what’s most important is being able to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas everyone’

And this is what Maher, host of HBO’s ‘Real Time With Bill Maher’, tweeted about the same game (adult language has been replaced by an ellipsis):

‘Wow, Jesus just... #TimTebow bad! And on Xmas Eve! Somewhere in hell Satan is tebowing, saying to Hitler ‘Hey, Buffalo’s killing them.’’

Talk about polar opposites, Tebow the Christian quarterback and Maher the atheist comedian. Although maybe they do have one thing in common....

According to The Times’ Show Tracker blog, there are requests for Maher’s ouster from the airwaves on a seemingly regular basis. It happened back in July after a discussion of ‘hate sex’ with Republican presidential candidates Michele Bachmann and Rick Santorum and back in 2008, following comments about Pope Benedict XVI. And, needless to say, it’s happening again with Maher’s Tebow tweet.

Meanwhile, Tebow has been known to cause some controversy of his own. He prays in public and wins football games with questionable quarterbacking skills but a positive attitude. Plus, he seems like such a nice guy ... that really bugs some people.

OK, nevermind. They are polar opposites.
