USC’s Marqise Lee, Dion Bailey are Pac-12 freshmen of year

USC receiver Marqise Lee and linebacker Dion Bailey were selected as Pac-12 Conference offensive and defensive freshmen of the year, the league announced Monday.

Lee, who shared the honor with Oregon freshman De’Anthony Thomas, caught 73 passes for 1,143 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Trojans, who finished 10-2 after last Saturday’s 50-0 rout of UCLA.

Bailey tied for the team lead with 81 tackles, including two sacks. He also intercepted two passes.

Sophomore receiver Robert Woods, junior offensive tackle Matt Kalil, junior defensive end Nick Perry, junior safety T.J. McDonald, sophomore cornerback Nickell Robey, freshman kicker Andre Heidari and senior fullback-special teams player Rhett Ellison were selected first-team All-Pac-12.

Lee, Bailey, junior quarterback Matt Barkley, junior center Khaled Holmes and junior defensive end Wes Horton were second-team selections.

Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck was offensive player of the year, California linebacker Mychal Kendricks defensive player of the year.

Stanford’s David Shaw was coach of the year.
