UCLA fired Rick Neuheisel on Monday, two days after the Trojans defeated the Bruins, 50-0.

Neuheisel was 0-4 against the Trojans.

‘When you’re the UCLA coach, you’d like to play better against USC,’ Neuheisel said Monday during a teleconference for the Pac-12 championship game. ‘We had our chances but when you lose in the fashion that we did, that’s a difficult pill to swallow.’

USC won, 28-7, at the Rose Bowl in 2008, the year the teams restored the tradition of each wearing home jerseys.

The Trojans won, 28-7, in 2009 and, 28-14, in 2010.

Then came last weekend’s rout, in which the Bruins debuted an alternate all-white uniform.
