Del Mar fans are roaring on opening day

You would have thought they were running the Kentucky Derby on Wednesday at Del Mar, based on the loud roar of the crowd as the starting gate opened for the first race.

The crowd is huge. They had a record crowd of more than 45,000 last year, and early indications based on the packed infield are that fans have come out again en masse for opening day.

Jockey Joe Talamo guided Price to victory in the first race, and winning trainer Howard Zucker was ecstatic.
