So Yeon Ryu wins playoff for U.S. Women’s Open title

So Yeon Ryu defeated fellow South Korean Hee Kyung Seo by three shots in a three-hole playoff to win the U.S. Women’s Open on Monday in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Ryu birdied on her final hole of regulation earlier Monday to force the playoff, which took place on holes 16-18. After making par on the first hole, Ryu birdied on the second and third holes.

Seo made par twice but bogeyed on the second hole.

Ryu is the fifth player from South Korea to win the U.S. Women’s Open.
