Gaby Sanchez may not be the biggest name on the National League All-Star team. But few players are being covered in greater depth than the Florida Marlins’ first baseman.

Sanchez’s wife Judy, a former sportswriter with the Miami Herald, is writing a behind-the-scenes blog from Phoenix tracking her husband’s daily activities.

A sample: ‘There was a major logistics issue involving transportation and, post-[Home Run] Derby, there were no taxis or cars for the players to take back to the hotel. After 30 minutes of waiting out in the scorching heat, we were all shuffled onto a bus. So, Cliff Lee, Joey Votto, Jered Weaver and a bunch of other guys are all riding on this hot bus like they’re on an elementary school field trip. Still, no complaints. ‘It’s a great experience to be able to share with her. And with my mom and dad, my brother,’ Sanchez said. ‘It’s a special thing. Who knows how many other times you’re going to come this way?’

It’s not just a family affair for Sanchez, though, since Ryan Braun, his college roommate at the University of Miami, is also on the National League team.
