Unlike Landon Donovan, who is going nowhere, David Beckham appears to be off on his travels once again.

Reports out of England reveal that the Galaxy midfielder will miss the team’s match against the Houston Dynamo in Carson on Wednesday in order to take part in a testimonial game for his retiring former Manchester United teammate and close friend Gary Neville.

Beckham will play alongside a host of other Manchester United veterans in a game against Juventus on Tuesday night at the English Premier League team’s Old Trafford stadium. He will then fly directly to Boston to join up with the Galaxy for next Saturday’s match against the New England Revolution.

The Galaxy would neither confirm nor deny the reports on Thursday, with Coach Bruce Arena saying only that a decision would be made after Saturday night’s game against Chivas USA.

Arena did indicate that he was likely to ‘rest’ Beckham and not have the 36-year-old play three games in eight days. Asked whether a flight to England and a game there constituted ‘rest,’ Arena said: ‘He probably won’t be back in economy in the middle seat. So, if he travels, I’m sure his travel will be a little easier than most people are accustomed to.’

Meanwhile, Donovan and the Galaxy, who could have dismissed the rumor with a simple statement on Wednesday, on Thursday gave an almost-rude response to reports that Donovan might be moving to AS Roma in the Italian Serie A.

‘Don’t waste my time with that,’ Donovan said somewhat snippily after training.

Arena was equally dismissive.

‘I’m sure it goes with all the other reports we’ve had over the last four or five years,’ he said. ‘Not one of these reports have ever been accurate. We’ve always told you that Landon is with the Galaxy, that he is going to be with the Galaxy.’
