The NBA on Tuesday gave the Sacramento Kings until April 18 to apply to relocate the team for next season.

The Kings’ owners, Joe Gavin and George Maloof, have had discussions about moving the team to Anaheim. Typically, the deadline is March 1 for NBA teams to put in a request to move for the coming season.

The league said it granted the extension so the Kings ownership can ‘discuss its options’ with the NBA Board of Governors on April 14 and 15.

If the Kings ask to move, it will take a majority vote of the 30 NBA owners to approve it.
