Manny Pacquiao says he’ll retire from boxing in three years

Manny Pacquiao may be standing tall at the top of the boxing world, but he’s already thinking about retirement.

Pacquiao, whose latest lopsided victory came Nov. 13 against Antonio Margarito, told reporters in the Philippines that he planned to retire in three years. The 32-year-old Filipino congressman, who received a congressional medal from his countrymen for the second time on Monday, says he doesn’t want to fight beyond the age of 35.

Pacquiao, the only boxer ever to win title belts in eight different weight divisions, also said he’d be willing to fight Juan Manuel Marquez again even though boxing fans wouldn’t be interested.

‘If I were a boxing fan,’ Pacquiao said, ‘I would not watch Pacquiao versus Marquez.’

There was no mention of whether he would fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. at any point over the next three years -- that’s the fight boxing fans all over the world are hoping will somehow happen.
