Ducks announce roster for their opener Friday at Detroit

The Ducks have announced their season-opening roster. They placed forwards Joffrey Lupul (blood infection) and Jason Jaffray (knee) on the injured reserve list and designated defenseman Toni Lydman (double vision) as an injured non-roster player.

A club spokesman said Lydman accompanied the team on its trip to Detroit, Nashville and St. Louis so he might be getting closer to being able to play.

If Fowler plays Friday, he will be the third-youngest player ever to appear in a game for the Ducks. Fowler, born on Dec. 5, 1991, will be 18 years, 10 months and three days old  Friday. Here are their youngest players, courtesy of the Ducks:

1.   Oleg Tverdovsky –- 18 years, 8 months and 13 days on Jan. 21, 1995 @ Winnipeg (born on May 8, 1976)

2.    Stanislav Chistov – 19 years, 5 months and 23 days on Oct. 10, 2003 @ St. Louis (born on April 17, 1983)

3.    Luca Sbisa –- 19 years, 8 months and 4 days on Oct. 3, 2009 vs. San Jose (born on Jan. 30, 1990)

4.    Vitaly Vishnevski –- 19 years, 10 months and 1 day on Jan. 19, 2000 vs. Dallas (born on March 18, 1980)

5.    Chad Kilger –- 19 years, 10 months and 12 days on Oct. 9, 1995 @ Winnipeg (born Nov. 27, 1976)
