Eric Holmes, a NASCAR K&N Pro Series West driver from Escalon, Calif., is atop the Hunter Index, which ranks the top drivers in the NASCAR developmental series.

Holmes won the West Series race at Montana Raceway Park on Saturday night, his third of the season. He was also the runner-up in the West Series race at Portland International Raceway in Oregon.

Holmes, a two-time West Series champion, is the leader in the West Series standings. He has a 79-point lead over David Mayhew of Bakersfield with four races remaining in the West Series schedule. The next West Series race is Saturday night at Colorado National Speedway.

Holmes is the only driver from the West Coast in the Hunter Index top 10. Craig Preble, a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series driver from Nebraska, is second, followed by Darrell Wallace, a driver in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, in third.

Mayhew and Patrick Long, a driver from Thousand Oaks, earned honorable mentions in the Hunter Index. Long won the West Series race at Portland International Raceway, his first and only start of the West Series season.
