Overnight ratings for Game 5 of the NHL’s Stanley Cup finals between the Chicago Blackhawks and Philadelphia Flyers on Sunday translated into 5.85 million viewers and a 3.3/6 rating. That’s the best showing for a nonovertime Stanley Cup finals game since 2002, when the Carolina Hurricanes and Detroit Red Wings drew 6.85 million. Game 5 between Detroit and the Pittsburgh Penguins last year drew 4.45 million viewers. The highest-rated Stanley Cup finals game in recent years was a triple-overtime matchup between Detroit and Pittsburgh in 2008 that drew 6.25 million viewers.
