Ron Charles, the president of Santa Anita, has resigned. An official announcement is expected Tuesday from MI Developments, the company that owns the Arcadia track.

His resignation comes days before a scheduled Thursday meeting of the California Horse Racing Board in which Magna Entertainment Corp., which has owned Santa Anita, is scheduled to provide an update on its bankruptcy proceedings. Also, there is a discussion scheduled on the status of the Oak Tree Racing Assn. and its attempt to negotiate a lease from Santa Anita to run its meeting this fall.
