The Kings will compete in the Stanley Cup playoffs this spring for the first time since 2002, clinching a berth Sunday when Calgary lost at Chicago, 4-1.

That defeat means the Flames could match the Kings’ 95 points but cannot equal the Kings’ 44 wins, and wins are the first tiebreaker when teams are tied after an equal number of games.
