UCLA forward Reeves Nelson has been cleared to play against Arizona on Thursday night, but the Bruins will be without reserve center J’mison Morgan, who has been suspended for the game in Tucson for violating team rules. Morgan will rejoin the Bruins for Saturday’s Arizona State game, according to a sports information department official.

Nelson has missed the last two games after suffering a partial tear in the retina of his left eye against Washington State. He required laser eye surgery to repair the damage.

Nelson participated in practice Wednesday after undergoing an eye examination on Wednesday.

Nelson has been the Bruins’ most effective inside player. He is averaging 11 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

He was injured at Washington State on Feb. 18, when he was bumped while finishing a fastbreak with a dunk. Nelson landed on his face, suffering a cut over his right eye that required 15 stitches. He played against Washington on Feb. 20, but an eye examination after the Bruins returned revealed the tear.

It was the second time this season that Nelson has injured his right eye. He was poked in the eye against Kansas, suffering a corneal abrasion.
