Donny Daniels is leaving UCLA’s men’s basketball program, Coach Ben Howland just confirmed.

Daniels, a UCLA assistant coach for the last seven seasons, is being considered for a position at Gonzaga, a source familiar with the Bruins program said.

The source, who asked for anonymity because he was not authorized to speak, said that Daniels was “very close” to agreeing to join Gonzaga Coach Mark Few’s staff.

Daniels came in with Howland in 2003 and helped put together recruiting classes that took the Bruins to three consecutive Final Fours. Daniels also spent three seasons as head coach at Cal State Fullerton and was a Utah assistant for 11 seasons.

In other news, UCLA sophomore center J’mison Morgan did not enroll for the spring quarter and will not return.
