Washington Wizards guard Javaris Crittenton will plead guilty to one of two misdemeanor weapons charges, his attorney said.

Earlier today, Crittenton was charged with possession of an unregistered firearm and attempted carrying of a pistol without a license. Crittenton’s attorney said prosecutors would drop the second charge if the player pleads guilty to the first charge.

The charges stem from a locker room incident last month with teammate Gilbert Arenas, who pleaded guilty to a felony gun charge on Jan. 15.

Crittenton’s lawyer, Peter H. White, said his client had the legally-owned gun ‘only because he legitimately feared for his life.’
