UCLA forward Reeves Nelson made his presence felt at the end of a ragged first half to help UCLA take a 24-18 lead over Oregon State into the locker room.

Nelson scored four of the Bruins’ last six points, both on strong inside moves. He then blocked Seth Tarver’s shot at the buzzer.

Nelson’s determined play was the Bruins’ high point in an ugly first half by both teams. The Bruins had more turnovers (12) then field goals (eight). Oregon State had nine turnovers in the half and shot 38% from the field.
