The rematch 17 years in the making is finally near. Roy Jones Jr. is finalizing negotiations to fight Bernard Hopkins, according to Jones’ marketing agent. The site and date are not immediately known.

Jones defeated Hopkins in 1993 to win the then-vacant International Boxing Federation middleweight title. They were due to fight in the Spring, before Jones lost by first-round knockout to Danny Green in Australia in December, voiding the contract. The contract has since been revisited.
