The 2010 Winter Classic on New Year’s Day pits the Boston Bruins against the Philadelphia Flyers. So how appropriate is it that a huge storm hits the East Coast and that fluffy white stuff called snow blankets Fenway Park, this year’s site of the annual NHL game?

The storm dumped nearly two feet of snow on parts of Cape Cod over the weekend, according to the Boston Globe, hampering flights at Logan International Airport and messing up the final weekend for Christmas shopping.

No doubt it also kept those who manage the rink inside Fenway pretty busy. Enjoy the photo gallery because while the snow may have made for slushy ice, some of the images are breathtaking. And for hockey fans (or Fenway fans, for that matter) don’t forget the live webcam.
