As expected, Jimmie Johnson was voted the NASCAR driver of the decade by the media. Perhaps not so expected, he was voted male athlete of the year by the Associated Press.

There was little debate that Johnson was the best NASCAR driver of the decade. His four NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championships in a row are unprecedented. His 47 wins in the decade aren’t too shabby either.

Apparently his accomplishments on the racetrack this year were too much for the Associated Press to ignore. He beat out tennis star Roger Federer and Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt for the honor.
