Angels General Manager Tony Reagins was given a long-term contract extension today.

Reagins became the club’s 10th GM on Oct. 16, 2007, and quickly made his mark, signing free agent outfielders Torii Hunter and Bobby Abreu and left-hander Scott Kazmir. All three played critical roles in the team’s winning the American League West this season.

Reagins, 42, has been with the Angels for 18 seasons and was the director of player development for six years before becoming GM. Under his direction, the Angels farm system has produced a number of key players, including Howie Kendrick, Kendry Morales, Erick Aybar, Jeff Mathis, Jered Weaver and Kevin Jepsen.
