Winger Alexander Frolov, who led the Kings with 32 goals last season but scored only one in their first eight games, was held out of the lineup for the finale of their season-long, six-game trip tonight against the Dallas Stars.

Coach Terry Murray, in a phone conversation Sunday, told The Times he was unhappy with a giveaway by Frolov that enabled the Columbus Blue Jackets to pull even with the Kings on Saturday and eventually go on to win, 4-1.

‘If he’s not scoring he definitely has to be a good checking player and be smart with how he manages the puck,” Murray said Sunday.

Apparently, Murray doesn’t think Frolov’s smart enough and took him out of the lineup.

Rich Hammond at www.lakings.com reported from Dallas that Raitis Ivanans will take Frolov’s place alongside Michal Handzus and Wayne Simmonds.
