During Tuesday’s loss to the Toronto Blue Jays, Jorge Posada decided it would be a good idea to give Blue Jays pitcher Jesse Carlson a bit of an elbow after crossing home plate. Posada was still upset by an inside pitch earlier in the game, because, you know, pitchers aren’t allowed to throw inside or challenge the Yankees apparently. So the pitch got away from Carlson a little, big deal.

This started a chain of events that led to a bench-clearing brawl, one of the better ones in recent baseball history.

And it cemented Jorge Posada’s reputation as one of the biggest babies in the game.

But plate umpire Jim Joyce said it best: “As he ran past Carlson, he gave him a little shove with his elbow. It was very unsportsmanlike. It was a cheap shot.”
