While USC quarterback Matt Barkley grabs the headlines, Aaron Corp waits for his chance.
Will it come if the freshman struggles on Saturday at Ohio State?
Corp, No. 1 on the depth chart until he suffered a cracked fibula in training camp, completed all four of his pass attempts, threw for a touchdown and directed two scoring drives in the Trojans’ 56-3 season-opening victory over San Jose State.
“I think I did some good things when I was in,” Corp said this week. “Two touchdown drives? I can’t complain. I just have to keep working hard and wait for that opportunity.”
The mobile Corp is hoping doctors clear a switch from the bulky brace he has worn the last few weeks to a more conventional model.
“This one makes my leg kind of slant in,” he said, “so it’s harder to run.”
