Trainer Henry Ramirez just stopped the fight, telling referee Jon Schorle his fighter Cris Arreola of Riverside didn’t have anything left after WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko systematically used his height and reach advantage (and experience) to pick apart the courageous challenger.

‘He was taking too much punishment,’ Ramirez said. ‘Arreola was irate. It was not an easy decision, but we had discussed it, and I had to do it.’

Klitschko landed two big-time rights to the mug of Arreola in the 10th, an I generously gave Arreola only two of the 10 prior rounds. We’ll have more in tomorrow’s Times, including a column by my colleague Bill Dwyre. Check it out please.

Fight is over, Klitschko wins

Arreola corner stops the fight before the 11th...too much Klitschko. He raises arms in victory, with beaten challenger on stool.

Tenth round

Arreola trying to job legs to show crowd he still has energy. Arreola tries to use left, Klitschko backs away. His legs are holding up. Two punishing rights by Klitschko. Arreola needs an opening, and Klitschko too experienced to give one. That’s been the story beyond his size advantage, and jab ability. Arreola got popped twice with rights.
