The Pacific 10 Conference and Alamo Bowl today finalized a four-year deal to become bowl partners starting with the 2010 season.

The Alamo Bowl, staged in San Antonio, will host the Pac-10’s No. 2 team against a Big 12 opponent. The Alamo will replace the Holiday Bowl in the Pac-10’s pecking order, with the San Diego game sliding into the No. 3 slot.

The Alamo Bowl will pay conference schools approximately $3 million, which is more than the Holiday Bowl was willing to pay. ‘More power to the Alamo Bowl,’ Holiday Bowl Executive Director Bruce Binkowski recently told The Times when it appeared the bowl deal was imminent.

The Holiday Bowl payout is $2.3 million per team.
